Mali Zulu is a talented musician born in a village called KwaMaphumulo, on the outskirts of Stanger in the beautiful grassy plains of Northern KwaZulu Natal. He grew up singing in school choirs from Grade One and in Grade Twelve he was selected  for the Northern KwaZulu Natal Youth Choir, where he received practical coaching and travelled throughout South Africa.

Mali Zulu will perform at The Still Sessions with a 3 piece acoustic band. Qin Zungu plays an acoustic guitar and sings, which brings powerful music dynamic and blends in very well with the feel of the band. Skippy Khubeka, he keeps the trio center and defiantly brings the grove on with his amazing bass skills. Last but not least we have Mali Zulu, Lead Vocalist and Guitarist. This is where it all comes together; he brings vocal quality and smooth guitar skills.

When asked what Mali Zulu would bring us at The Still Sessions, he said the following: “ They say Love makes the world go around, you will either think about your Lover or you will dance together.”

In 2014 he entered Idols Season 10 and made it to the top 31. Following this Mali Zulu landed a record deal and started working on his own compositions. Mali Zulu is a musician at heart and his life is driven by music. He has since been performing a lot and has graced the stage at some of SA’s most beautiful venues and festivals, such as: The Rock Music Bistro, The Lion’s Festival, The Dutch and The Outland Festival. His biggest dream is to have his own studio, so he could offer other people a chance to experience producing their own music and succeeding in their careers.

His latest single titled “Try” is available online and he is currently working on an EP.

The Still Sessions is a monthly music and dining experience brought to you by Distillery031 and iSupport Music Business. Distillery031 is Durban’s first craft distillery and home to an intimate cocktail bar and dining area. UK trained chefs Jordan and Net Semple server gourmet street food prepared with locally sourced ingredients to accompany the distillery’s range of signature cocktails. D031 distills fine spirits in small batches using all natural ingredients. Their range includes vodka, gin, rum, cachaca and absinthe.
