Silver strings is a music duet from Durban, South Africa. Two young talented women, classically trained and qualified, have devoted their time and passion to bring Silver Strings SA to life. The duet is made up of the Violin and Cello, two melodious instruments that complement and compose beautifully together. They play an array of music from wedding classics, contemporary music, jazz and tangos. From The Beatles to Jazz standards to Bryan Adams. Special requests are welcome. Maria Naude started playing piano at the age of five and cello at the age of eight. In 1994, Maria was accepted into the prestigious PRO – ARTE School of Arts and at the age of only seventeen, she was awarded a distinction for her Unisa Grade 8 Cello exam. She has been a member of various orchestras in South Africa namely The East Rand Philharmonic Orchestra, The National Youth String Orchestra, The National Youth Concert Orchestra, The Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kwa Zulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Maria currently teaches Cello, performs Cello with artists like Heels over Head and Shannon Hope and also is working on her solo music.
Shelly de Wolf started playing the violin at the age of eleven. She passed her Grade Eight Violin Exam in 2006 with Merit and was awarded Full Colours for Music Performance throughout High School. She is a qualified violin teacher with Trinity College London and thoroughly enjoys inspiring young musicians to learn the instrument. She has been a member of several orchestras namely The South African National Youth Orchestra, The Johannesburg Youth Orchestra, The East Sydney Chamber Orchestra and is currently a member of the Durban City Orchestra. Shelly performs for various events and weddings with Silver Strings SA.
